AKVAARIOPÄIVÄKIRJA - AQUARIUM DIARY

Akvaarion tilannetta ei olekaan tullut päivitettyä vähään aikaan. Kerrotaan nyt ainakin, että mikään ei ole kuollut :)
Kasvit kasvavat, kukin tahtiinsa. Köynnökset ovat saaneet verkon, jota pitkin kiivetä.

15. toukokuuta kalakanta kasvoi neljällä miljoonakalalla, jotka toivat hieman elämää rauhalliseen altaaseen. Tänään laitoin pihalta muutaman suikeroalpin oksan kellumaan pinnalle. Katsotaan, kasvavatko siinä. Mahdolliset miljoonakalan poikaset saisivat hieman suojaa...

15th of may I bought four guppys, which gave a bit life to my sleepy tank. Today I put a few branches of creeping Jenny to float on the water. Let´s see if they will grow there.  They would give some protection to the potential offspring of the guppy´s...

Orkideat näyttävät vaihtavan lehtensä. Vanhat lehdet ruskistuvat ja kuolevat pois, mutta uusia, kauniita lehtiä kasvaa tilalle.

The orchids seem to change their leafs. Old leafs are turning brown and die away, but new, beautiful leafs are growing instead.

Kasvu jatkuu. Peikonlehti on tunkenut juurensa suodatinmattoon. Mutta ei haittaa - saa olla siinä :)
Nyt siellä uiskentelee myös muutama kala, mutta ovat liian vikkeliä kuvattavaksi. Kuusi rubiinitetraa ja neljä pientä monnia.

The growth goes on. The Ceriman has grown its roots into the filter mat. Doesn´t matter - it can be there :)
I also have some fishes in my tank, but they are too quick to be photographed! Six Glowlight tetras and four small catfish.

Kaikki kasvit ovat vielä hengissä - toistaiseksi kaikki hyvin! Köynnökset ovat jopa alkaneet kasvaa. Korkean ilmankosteuden takia vettä haihtuu aika paljon. Mutta se ei ole ongelma.

All the plants are still alive - pretty good so far! The creepers have even started to grow. Because of the high humidity, water evaporates a lot. But that´s not a problem.

Tässä näkyy orkideoiden kastelusysteemi: vesipumppu nostaa vettä orkidea-astiaan, jossa on pieniä reikiä pohjassa. Tietokoneen tuuletin kierrättää ilmaa. Yksi orkideakin on alkanut kasvattaa uutta lehteä.

Here you can see the watering system of the orchids: water pump raises the water to the orchid container, which has small holes in it´s bottom.  A computer fan circulates the air. Also one orchid  has started to grow a new leaf.

 Monen, monen vuoden jälkeen aloittelen akvaariota. Osittain siksi, että mun orkideat ei oikein kukoistaneet. Halusin nyt tehdä kosteamman paikan, missä kasvattaa niitä ja muita kasveja. Tuo sininen juttu on mattosuodatin. Siihen olen istuttanut pari köynnöstä. Saa nähdä, miten toimii! Ja saa nähdä, josko tuo kirkas sininen muuttuisi enemmän ruskeaksi...
Aion ottaa kuvia joka viikko, ja laittaa niitä tänne seuratakseni, mitä tapahtuu! Kaloja siellä ei ole...vielä... :)

After many, many years I´m starting with an aquarium. Partly because my orchids didn´t bloom. I wanted to make now a more humid place to grow them and other plants. That blue thing is a mat filter, and I have put two creepers to grow on it. Let´s see how it works! And let´s hope that the bright blue turns to more brown...
I will take pics every week, and put them here, to see what happens! There are not any fishes...yet... :)
