WOYWW 150 - experiments

Hi all! Last week I was (again) in Stockholm... On 1. March my hubby had his 50th anniversary, and we made a "day-in-Stockholm-cruising" and the Viking Line company gave him a new cruising ticket as a birthday gift. Now we used that ticket. There were Cuba weeks on board and they had a Cuba quiz... I told my hubby, that it´s no use to go there, ´cause we don´t know much about Cuba. But he wanted to go anyway! There was three people who had all the answers right - and they got some chocolate. And last, among all of the participants, were picked one coupon - and my DH won again a new cruising ticket! :D

But my working desk... it´s again our bedroom floor, ´cause I was playing with colour sprays. I made some backgrounds for my art journal and made experiments with hair spray as a fixative. Waiting to get outdoors!!! I have also worked with my AB, which is on the right side...

For some reason I can´t see this week´s WOYWW on Julia´s Stamping Ground, but hope it´s coming soon...

Hei kaikki! Viime viikolla oltiin (taas) Tukholmassa... Maaliskuun 1. oli miehen viiskymppiset ja silloin tehtiin "päivä-Tukholmassa-risteily" ja Viking Line antoi hänelle lahjaksi uuden risteilylipun. Se käytettiin nyt. Laivalla oli menossa Kuubaviikot ja siellä oli Kuuba-aiheinen visailu... Sanoin, ettei ole mitään järkeä osallistua, kun ei tiedetä Kuubasta paljoakaan. Mutta mies halusi mennä joka tapauksessa! Kolmella osallistujalla oli kaikki vastaukset oikein - ja saivat suklaata. Lopuksi kaikista osallistuneista kupongeista poimittiin vielä yksi - ja mies voitti taas uuden risteilylipun! :D

Mutta se työpöytä... tai oikeastaan taas makkarin lattia, kun leikin noilla värisuihkeilla. Tein joitain taustoja art journaliin ja kokeiluja hiuslakasta fiksatiivina. Odotan, että pääsen ulkoilmaan!!! Olen myös työstänyt altsukirjaani, tuossa oikealla...

ALTERED BOOK

(Blogger teases me too! First I was not able to load the pics to blogger, but now it seems to work again...)

This is the AB I´m making in Elizabeth´s Altered Book Class.
I´ve not finished the niche nor the front page - I have to make some more thinking with them :) Althoug the Muse for the niche is ready and working well!

´cause my theme deals with wings, my "glue tags" are wing shaped. In the glue experiment I used Pritt´s Original glue stick, which worked fine. It glues well and is immediately dry. I also like the all purpose PVA glue. It wasn´t so wet as I feared. Maybe partly because I have lost the cap and use an aluminium folio on top of it :) We don´t have Elmer´s glue here, but Eri Keeper is well known, and I guess it´s almost the same stuff.
The third "glue" was decoupage lacquer, ´cause I don´t have gel medium. That was far too wet! Althoug it glues well. The last pages I glued together with gesso. Also that took quite a long time to dry. But all my "glues" worked well and didn´t cause wrinkles! ...well, the lacquer a bit...

This is my gesso spread. I really like playing with gesso! It was a good medium to glue the feathers to the page. There is also an used tea bag.

My homework. I noticed that I have the same alphabet stencil as in the link :) I only coloured from the wrong side, so I got the alphabets right way to my page. And I used the Inktence pencils, so I had no problems to get the colour to stick to the page - only problem was, that I was about to glue the whole paper to the page :D So I continued with an instant image transfer method: I spread the glue/water mixture to an ink jet print (on the print side), put that to the page (the print side towards the page) and took it away before the glue dried. The face and butterfly are tranferred with that method. Then I printed the instructions, glued them to the page and added some paper tapes.

Finally the PVA resist experiment. I made it first to the pages I have ripped off the book. I wanted to see, how the different colours works with the glue... and then I draw a wing also in the book. Now I´m waiting the glue to dry...

My Altered Book - this far / Altsukirjani tämänhetkinen tilanne

I´m taking part in Elizabeth´s - and Bleubeard´s, of course! - Altered Book Class. We are now on lesson 3. The class is free, and Elizabeth gives us every second week very good and detailed instructions how to go on with our books.

My AB will be about the Techniques - with the subtitle: how to add wings to the imagination. So there will be winged things...
As you can see, no exact thoughts...

Osallistun Elizabethin - ja tietysti Bleubeardin! - altsukirjakurssille. Onko kunnon suomennosta tuolle altered bookille? En yhtään pidä sanoista "altsu" ja "tuunaus"... no, minun päänsärkyni!
Olemme nyt kolmannella oppitunnilla. Joka toinen viikko Elizabeth antaa hyvät ja yksityiskohtaiset ohjeet, joilla jatkaa kirjojemme kanssa.

Kirjani aihe tulee olemaan Tekniikat. Siis tämän AB kirjan teon tekniikoista on kyse. Alaotsikoksi tulee:how to add wings to the imagination, eli miten mielikuvitukselle laitetaan siivet. Jotain siivekästä siis tiedossa...
Kuten huomaatte, ei mitään tarkkoja ajatuksia...

Inside you can see that the book is covered with plastic. There are also old library stamps, which I want to save in my AB.
Sisäpuolelta näkee, että kirja on muovitettu. Siellä näkyy myös vanhoja leimoja, jotka haluan säilyttää kirjassani.

I have ripped off part of the pages. Using the method 2 - the easier one!
Osa sivuista on revitty pois. Käytän annetuista tekniikoista sitä helpompaa!

I also ripped off the plastic from the cover. This was the result!
Revin myös muovin kannen päältä. Tässä tulos!

I added a thin layer of gesso on it. I can add more later if nesessary. Now I don´t know yet what to do with the covers...
Laitoin kanteen ohuen gessokerroksen. Sitä voi sitten tarvittaessa lisätä. Vielä en oikein tiedä, mitä kanteen laitan...

I also have cut the niche. Have to confess, that I have no idea what to put in it... but I will find out! I used decoupage lacquer to glue the pages together and it worked well.
There was stamps also in the back cover, so I cut the niche so that they show thru it.
Myös luukku on leikattu. (mikäs tämä sitten on suomeksi? google tarjoaa "markkinarakoa" :)) Täytyy tunnustaa, ettei aavistustakaan, mitä sinne laitan... mutta keksin kyllä! Käytin decoupage lakkaa liimaamaan sivut yhteen ja se toimi tässä hyvin.
Takakannessakin oli noita leimoja, joten leikkasin luukun siten, että leimat näkyvät siitä.

So, I´m back after a couple of weeks... Now I have a new spread of my art journal altered book to show you. It´s not quite ready yet...Those Ladies are from Itkupilli´s Gothic kit.

WOYWW #106

Last week was very warm - about 30°C - and this week is again quite chilly and rainy. So I have continued my art journal altered book. Here you see a spread where I practised grunge background. It looks quite pale here, but there are tones you can´t see in the pic - believe me, it´s better than it looks...! ;)
Text is quotes from a Finnish book by Leena Krohn: "Tainaron - letters from another town."

Yesterday I also got the new printer - look posting below - but it´s still in package. I´m using the old one... :)

WOYWW #104 - Happy Anniversary!

Hello WOYWWers! We have a warm and beautiful day here in southern Finland and that´s why I have an outdoor "workdesk" today!

I also started an altered book - kind of art journal inspired by Teesha Moore. I have shamelessly copied her style while I´m seeking my own... :) It´s a kind of diary and contains such personal things, that I have blurred one spread! (there MAY be someone who understands finnish...)
